What is a Product Opportunity?

A Product Opportunity is a big costly problem your marketing (existing/potential customers) have, that if you release a great solution, will give you an edge over the competitors.

In this platform it covers everything from all times of Feedback to ideas you have.

Opportunities are structured as follows:

  • Desired Outcome
    • Product Opportunity
      • User Persona
        • Customer Journey
        • Research Studies
        • Product Concepts
      • Other Personas ...
    • Other Opportunities ...
  • Other Outcomes ...

How would I Prioritise an Opportunity?

To Prioritise an Opportunity, you'd use these steps:

  1. Define a Desired Outcome.
  2. Define an Opportunity or Collect Feedback from Customers.
  3. There are 2 Options:
    • Define at least 1 Persona (and other assumptions) then conduct Research Studies (with potential/existing customers) to identify if this Opportunity is worth pursuing (ultimately leading to a new product/feature/improvement).
    • If the Opportunity/Feedback has already been identified as worth pursuing, then skip to prioritising
  4. From the validated assumption and research findings, create several product concepts, to test usability with customers and the amount of effort required to release a finished product/feature.
  5. Define custom Priority Factors, set factor scores on each Opportunity (then watch it reorder itself, ready to be added to your Roadmap).
